Gautam Ramaswamy

Captain Ramaswamy is a master mariner with over 23 years of marine experience in various domains of the maritime industry. He joined SeaKapital as Technical Director in June 2023.

◼ Prior to joining SeaKapital, Captain Ramaswamy served as the Director - Regulatory Affairs for the Hong Kong Shipowners Association and held the Secretaryship of the Asian Shipowners’ Association’s Ship Insurance and Liability Committee, the Insurance & Liability Sub-committee and the Maritime Personnel, Education & Training Sub-committee of the HKSOA. Before working with HKSOA, Captain Ramaswamy gained extensive experience in marine, vessel operation and regulatory compliance for different types of vessels through his various management positions in Anglo-Eastern, Univan and Maersk Line.

◼ Captain Ramaswamy has an EMBA from Columbia University and he is a Council Member and an Associate Fellow of the Nautical Institute and is a member of the Committee of its Hong Kong branch. He is an Associate Fellow of the Royal Institute of Navigation. He is also a Maritime Arbitrator and is an Associate of the Chartered institute of Arbitrators. He also served as a member of the Seafarers' Advisory Board of The Government of the Hong Kong SAR.
